Shares of ITC (down 12.43 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma (down 2.34 per cent), Reliance Industries (down 1.97 per cent), GAIL (down 1.77 per cent) and Tata Power (down 1.02 per cent) emerged as top losers in the Nifty50 index in Tuesday’s trade.
On the contrary, shares of Axis Bank (up 2.28 per cent), ACC (up 1.92 per cent), Zee Entertainment (up 1.88 per cent), Asian Paints (up 1.73 per cent), Infosys (up 1.64 per cent) and Sun Pharma (up 1.63 per cent) stood among top gainers.
Among the sectoral indices, pharma, IT and auto indices stayed positive. However, FMCG and metal stocks dragged the market.
Nearly 20 stocks including, Flexituff International, GOL Offshore, MIC Electronics, Prakash Constro, KSS, REI Agro, FCS Software and JMT Auto touched their new 52-week low on NSE, while stocks such as Spice Mobility, Man Industries, Jubilant Food, Bharti Airtel, PTC India, ACC, Biocon, PowerGrid, Hindustan Unilever, Bharti Infratel and Ashok Leyland were among the 47 stocks that hit their fresh 52-week high today.
Benchmark Nifty50 index closed 87 points down at 9,829, while the 30-share Sensex ended the day at 31,710.99, 364 points down.
In the Nifty50 pack, 29 stocks ended the day in green, while 22 stocks were in red.
