Naveen Patnaik, the Odisha Chief Minister announced the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission recommendations for 8 lakh employees and pensioners on August 29th.
“My government has decided to implement the recommendations of the Committee constituted for examination of 7th Pay Commission and its adoption for the state government employees,” Patnaik told reporters.
With the implementation of 7th Pay Commission, the annual additional expenditure would be around Rs 4,500 crore. He also added, this move will benefit around 4.5 lakh state government employees and 3.5 lakh retired employees.
Patnaik said that the state government employees will get the pay hike from September salary onwards. Several employees and unions expressed their displeasure for the delay of time in the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission since they have been demanding implementation of the pay commission recommendations from January 1, 2016, as done by the central government.
