Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal’s brother-in-law is arrested by the Mumbai crime branch. The accused was arrested yesterday night and is sent to the police custody till October 3.
Amit Gill is claimed to share a brother-in-law relation with actor Arjun Rampal. However, post the remand proceeding, he shouted that he do not hold any relation with the actor. Before Gill, six other people were also arrested for this case.
An FIR in this case has been registered in relevant sections for gambling and other Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 429, 465, 468 and 471 for forgery.
This has to be noted that in the recent India-Srilanka 5 match ODI series, India had won 3 matches with 1 being drawn.
Police were tipped about a betting racket during India-Srilanka match on Aug24. This case revolves around the same match between India & Srilanka. According to Gill’s lawyer, his role was limited to the extent of only talking to the earlier accused over the phone, so should not be accused of forgery. He demanded that Gill shouldn’t be send behind the bars.
Software to the rescue
A software developer had developed a software called ‘Bingo’, which was difficult for the police to trace. According to the FIR in this case, the accused was using this software for their betting racket which is considered comparatively safe for betting because they can erase all data after a particular match.
Arjun Rampal was recently seen as portraying gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli in the film ‘Daddy’.
